religion

religion

I believe in
life

showing up in
my body
feelings
of awe
or awareness
of hunger
or heartfulness

no faith
no prescription
fits fully
all point in a direction
of truth
of what is really real

what
I believe
is beyond
words
tangible
only to the heart
invisible on most days

no faith!
but trusting
the unfolding
nature
of
life

Ahimsa
provides a subtle
map
guidance
for presence and action

philosophies galore
ideas of right and wrong
like a whole bunch of balloons
myriad of colors
masses of words
all unite
at the hand that holds them
together

ideas
separating
thinkers of
east and west
right and left

barriers of no substance
walls of righteousness
when all we have
is each other
this life
the love we can feel

relationship
with
self
other
nature
life

I care
about fellow humans
hence I take action
for justice

I care
about the future of humanity
on this planet
in this bipedal form

so I take action
eat organic
and no meat
building
energy frugal
infrastructure

I care
about life
itself
letting it riff
through my
being

I care about differences
embracing with love
taking action
for equality
fiscal inclusion
for disenfranchised peoples

no profit is ever
worth the suffering
exploitation renders

no oil is ever
worth the wars
eons old sunshine
excavated for evolution

did we forget
that growth is
natural in nature
evolution
inevitable

selling fantastic
ideas about lifestyles
a notion that stuff
will make us happy

profiteers talking of liberty
but making a killing
hiding their loot
in panama schemas
and personal nightmares

real freedom is found
in authentic being
not in hundreds
of choices
for shoppers
or voters

my religion is
simple

trusting
life
emerging
truth
unfolding

care for each other
and the mother of us all
